Nancy L. Arneson
June 21, 1951 - May 02, 2013
Obituary
MIDDLETON-Nancy L. Arneson, age 61, of Middleton died Thursday, May 2, 2013, after a long courageous battle with a series of strokes. She was born on June 21, 1951, the beloved daughter of Alfred and Helen Abplanalp. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1969. Nancy worked at the Department of Transportation, where she met her husband, Rodney Arneson. They were married on October 28, 1977. Nancy and Rodney have two daughters; Heidi was born in 1978 and Edie was born in 1980. NASCAR was a favorite pastime of Nancy’s. She claimed to be Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s sister, so Dale Earnhardt Jr. was like her adopted son. Nancy’s greatest passion was her family. She dedicated her life to being the most wonderful wife and the most loving, caring mother that a child could ever hope for. Her two grandchildren, Aishanay Pickett and Walter Moore were the light of her life. During her twelve year struggle with strokes, Nancy proved to be such an awesome role model to her family, especially to her grandchildren. We all got to see the wonderful, strong and courageous woman that Nancy was. Nancy will leave a gigantic size hole in our lives. Nancy is survived by her husband, Rodney; two daughters, Heidi (Henry) Pickett and Edie (Dartanyan) Moore; and two grandchildren, Aishanay Nancy Pickett and Walter Allen Moore. Nancy is further survived by her mom, Helen Abplanalp; and her brother, Chuck Abplanalp. Nancy was preceded in death by her dad, Alfred Abplanalp. Funeral services will be held at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1 S. Rosa Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Avoca, Wisc. The family would like to thank Larry and Jeanette Arneson for everything they have done for our family, but especially for the care and love they gave Nancy over the last few years.
A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1 S. Rosa Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

Rod and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. The Voss family all loved "Apple" as we knew her, and I looked forward to seeing her whenever I was home when Lindy was. She was like a family member when I was little. You are all in my prayers. God Bless--

Such a precious human being she was! I worked with Nancy in Middleton before she became ill. I have missed seeing her every day since that time. Rod, I'm so sorry for you and the girl's loss. But what a wonderful place she must be in now! You all will be in my prayers.

Our thoughts love and prayers go out to Rodney, Heidi, Edie, and family. We loved Nancy and will miss her greatly. I will never forget her kindness and gentle, yet fun soul. Little things she did, like make a special batch of rice crispy bars just for me, really made people feel how she cared about you. She was a great person and will be missed so much, yet she can finally be free of struggle and rest. God bless, Eric, Tenaye, and Kenny
