Obituary

MONONA-Linus L. Ammann, age 84, of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Oak Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Sept. 30, 1928, in Arcadia, the son of George and Gertrude (Rocholl) Ammann. He married Melvina Mueller on Sept. 14, 1950 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Linus enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 serving in Germany, and was discharged in 1952, as staff sergeant. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the 4 Lakes Yacht Club, Elks Club and Cottage Grove Lions Club. Linus enjoyed boating, hunting and traveling. He was a Packers and NASCAR fan. Most of all, Linus loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Bev) Ammann of Winona, Minn., Robert (Dawn) Ammann of St. Paul Park, Minn., and William (Linda) Ammann of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Ammann, Crystal Schaaf, Jenna Ammann, Amiee (Aaron) Grupa, and Amber Wait; four great-grandchildren, Nolan Ammann, Kaylee Schutz, Tylor and Connor Grupa; and siblings, Mary Jane Snow and Devon (LuAnn) Ammann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melvina; his parents; siblings, Evelyn (Jack) Wiersgalla, Arvilla (Theodore) Pierzina, James (MaryAnn) Ammann, George Jr. (Lanita) Ammann, Joseph Ammann and Marcellus Ammann ; brother-in-law, Joe Snow; and grandson-in-law, Christopher Schaaf. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites being conducted. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, and also at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. A special thank you to the staff at Oak Park for their outstanding love, and care you showed Linus over the past few years. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, and also at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding.

Your father has now joined you mother in heaven and I know they are happy to be together again. Our family has fond memories of the times we spend with your family when they lived in Winona.
