Obituary
MIDDLETON-Philip J. Virnig, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 28, 2013 of an apparent heart attack while biking. He was born on December 18, 1961, in Madison, the son of Jerome and Mary (Ripp) Virnig. After high school, Philip proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Michele Weiss, on September 14, 1991. Philip was currently employed with Roland Machinery in DeForest and previously with Aring Equipment for many years. He enjoyed a variety of interests including biking, boating, camping, deer hunting, running, skiing and four-wheeling; but truly treasured the time he spent with his family and many friends. Most of all, he adored his sons, and took great pride in everything they accomplished. He had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. Philip was a member of the Cross Plains American Legion Post No. 245. He was always helping others fix things and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and teasing manner. Philip leaves behind his loving wife Michele; their sons, Luke Virnig (Grace Schield) and Ben Virnig (Allison Kelliher); a sister, Kathy Virnig (Stephen Gochenaur); brother, Michael Virnig and his parents, Jerome and Mary Virnig. Philip is further survived by brothers-in-law, Mark (Anne) Weiss and David (Diana) Weiss; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Olk, Jeanine (Joe) Jankowski, Judy (Jim) Swiecichowski, Pam Beschta and Karin Weiss-Brown (Steve Brown). He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Vincent Olk and William Beschta and his parents-in-law, Leo and Jean Weiss. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2013, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave, Middleton from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, May 3, 2013 and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
