SARASOTA, FLA. /MONONA-Shirley Jean Souther, age 80, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. She was born on March 6, 1933, in Madison, the daughter of Julias and Lillian (Grover) Cramer. Shirley graduated from East High School in 1951, and she married Joe Souther on Sept. 17, 1951. She raised four children and then later became a realtor and developer for 35 years. Shirley loved to travel with her husband, Joe and she enjoyed family gatherings. She is survived by her children, Lynn of Monona, Lee (Sue) of New Berlin, Lori of Monona, and Larry (Kendra) of Madison; six grandchildren; Brienne, Samantha, Jessie, Jamie, Joey, and Jake; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Peggy) Cramer; sister-in-law, Joy Lenekich; and special friend, Art Takes. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salvation Army. We have enjoyed many years together. We will miss our playing cards and going out to dinner with her and Artie. She was a great friend and a wonderful person. Now, she can enjoy life and be free of pain and discomfort.
