OREGON-Scott A. Miller, age 83, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Stoughton. He was born on Feb. 28, 1929 in Madison, the son of Scott and Selma (Krogfuss) Miller. Scott married Patricia A. Peterson on July 15, 1961, in Oregon, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He grew up in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois while his father managed area farms. Scott attended Oregon High School and graduated from UW-Madison in 1950. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Scott was employed with Oscar Mayer for a number of years as a cattle buyer. Scott enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, making feeders, having coffee with his friends, volunteering with the Brooklyn/Oregon Food Pantry, visiting shut-ins, and traveling. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he often volunteered his services. Scott was known for many things including his humor, his ability to talk with anyone, his “Norwegian Corn Dryer”, and being a handyman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat; sons, David (Susanna) Miller of Zurich, Switzerland and Mark Miller of Madison; two granddaughters, Alanis and Mia Miller; sister, Martha (John) Onsrud of Stoughton; sister-in-law, Shirley Miller of Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. We'll never forget Scott's smile and his annual phone calls on our birthdays. Was always delighted that he took the time to do that for fellow church members. He was a light in our church and will be deeply missed. Love and condolences to Pat and all the family.

My heart extends to the entire Miller family. I have been blessed to have known this very special man. To have had the opportunity to work on the farm under Scott's constant supervision was indeed an experience. Whether it was building fences, painting fences, or pitching that aromatic refuse, Scott always had a way to make you smile and respect the land at the end of every day. In the most recent years the manner in which he took time to visit the many folks whom no longer had an opportunity to be out will never go unnoticed. Scott would call me everyday after he visited my Mom to let me know she was doing well. Scott was never without a good greeting to send, never without a positive word to pass your way, never without a big wide grin, always, always the same Scott Miller. Thank the Lord for letting Scott teach us all about values, the value he found in every person he touched. I can tell you one thing for sure, there certainly are some exceptional donuts and coffee in Heaven, if not, Scott would have been back by now. Yes, Scott is now with our Lord!
