Uncle Joe was one of my favorite people. I think I may have been named after him. He always had a smile for me and we loved to talk about his garden, making eggplant, rice balls and wine. I loved to hear his fishing stories and also stories of growing up in the Bush. He was a hard worker and a good man. I loved visiting he and Aunt Donna. Salute!

Pepo and family – please accept my sympathy. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your father, from all the great stories you have told, he seemed like a great man and I was sorry to hear of his passing.
You and the rest of your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Years ago Donna, Joe and me had so much fun going to the skating rink.Joe would tease Donna and we would all laugh and he would drop us off at the rink.
Sundays we would go to lunch at Nonees, that is a special memory with Joe. Then cooking his pasta, you could only have a little on your plate, not to waste, you could always come back for seconds. Years later we would dine and visit at the Stamm House and then Donna and Joe would glide slowly up the hill home. Joe you will surely be missed. Rest in peace.

I'll never forget how Joe used to make me laugh! We thought he & Donna were such wonderful people. In 1965 my family lived next door to them. I was just out of high school. One year on Halloween, Joe & Donna came trick or treating to our house. Joe was dressed like a pirate! When I opened the inside door & saw his face through the glass I had no idea who he was! He was on his knees so he appeared really short & wore a pirate's bandanna with I believe an eye patch! My dad (George Cornelius) & I laughed until tears streamed down our faces! He was so much fun--they both were & terrific neighbors too! I really loved them both & enjoyed their company.
Joe & Donna's little boy, Pepo, was a cutie!

Hi Donna, Wish I could be there today to participate in "celebrating" Joe's life. Joe was such a good man and he was always there to extend a helping hand to our family. I am sure my father has reached out to him from above to thank him.:) Please extend my condolences to Pepo as well. Bless you now and always.

Dear Donna and Family,
Joe taught me everything from sprinters stance to leg drive, how to hurdle. Most of all he taught me to do the best you can and remember what you could have done to perform better.
He was always where there was a track meet and I don't think there was anyone in Middleton who could have loved track as much as Joe.
He was an icon, a believer, a coach, a friend. He never went anywhere I went without having that stop watch. He took children and made young men & women out of them. He has seen so many athletes become stars that his memories must have kept him warm and happy for the latter part of his life. I got the flu from Meadowmere Assisted Living where my mother is living. They had my mom isolated in her room as not to give it to other, with the exception of her son.
Take care of yourself and your family.
