Dear Ken, Tracy and family,
Tony and I first met Karen when we all worked together in the OR at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was a great nurse and educator who had a passion for nursing that she freely shared. Karen also had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile to go with it. I remember a pig roast at your house that was so much fun! She adored her family and was so proud to be a Grandma! Blessings to her family. May your memories sustain you during this difficult time.

Karen, you are now a bright, shining star. You have made a huge difference in my life, my nursing and my passion for nursing. Thank you! For some unknown reason, God chose this to be your time. Make sure to continue to watch down on your family, they will need you. Rest now, this has been so hard for you, and it's ok to rest.
Love, Peggy

I served with Karen in the 44th General Hospital for a number of years, including during Desert Storm. I was in my last semester of UW Nursing School at the time of our deployment. Karen had been my instructor of the OR rotation portion of my clinicals. Upon arrival in Germany, Karen took it upon herself to set up an OR clinical for me in order that I may graduate on time. Although the regular Army wouldnt let it fly, her going out of her way to help left a lasting impression on me. She was both an excellant RN instructor and Nurse Corps Officer. My condolences.
