We want to extend our condolences to the entire Mortensen family for your loss. Phil, as well as Sandy and Kyle, have come to our rescue many times since we've moved into the "Old Stone" house on Highway 14. We are especially grateful for the time Phil spearheaded a search and rescue for my father, Frank Roberts, when he was lost all night in the government land behind our home. He, as well as a number of first responders, searched well into the morning hours for him. They stopped the search at 2:30 am due to darkness and returned at 5 am to continue the search. Phil was one of the first to return. Because of their intense search and many volunteers Dad was found at 7 am. Thank you Phil Mortensen. Many people are alive today because of your dedication to public service. You will be greatly missed. Rich and Sue Roberts

I met Phil and Kyle several years ago when I started delivering in the Brooklyn/Oregon area. I enjoy the brief visits and joking around with them both whenever I have the chance to stop in. Although I may not have known Phil as well as others I think he was a great man. His honesty, integrity, caring, sense of humor, dedication and leadership are commendable. We should all learn something from the example that he set. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to have known Phil.

My condolences to Sandy Mortensen & Family. I had the pleasure of working with Phil Mortensen on Brooklyn EMS when it first started. It was a blessing to have Phil as the Fire Chief and to help get the EMS started in Brooklyn. Serving the Community of Brooklyn was in Chief Mortensens blood. We all enjoyed working together on the Labor Day Celebrations. He will be missed. Candi Hanson
