Dear Annie, my heart goes out to you, knowing that you did your best for Catherine in giving her these few extra years. We have all missed her but knew that with your help she was walking a better path.
I just wanted you to know how important she was to me in my own life. In all her wisdom, she saw a match in introducing me to my boyfriend, Jack Demby. Even though Jack didn't drink he would come every Monday night to play cards. Because he was so fond of her as a friend, he would come to the other end of the bar at Chandler's to seek her out for good conversation...and through her, Jack found the courage to ask me out on our first date. We have been together since 2004...and with him by my side, I no longer felt any urge to hang out at a bar and drink as I once did.
I had moved from Madison to Arena in 1999, hoping to break the cycle of drink and drugs...in 2004 what Cat did for me more than likely saved my life...I am eternally grateful.

It was over 42 years ago that I began my teaching career in Madison at Marquette. In my first class I was very fortunate to have a very bright and enthusiastic student, Cathy Rood. I have always remembered Cathy. In fact, every time I had a class over the years and there were students that possessed that extra excitement about learning it would always remind me of Cathy. She was a benchmark in my mind for all of those students. I have long since retired (from three different schools in Madison) but I will forever hold a fond place in my memories for Cathy. Please accept my sincere condolences in your loss.

My dear sweet Cat, I have missed you since you moved to Madison. It's been 3 years since I've seen you. I always wanted to spirit you away from Chandlers and the big bar and sometimes we did, just never was long enough. I will always remember the many good times, road trips, garden parties, cook outs and music we shared. So glad we went to the Decemberists together that time, great fun. Every time I listen to Cat Power, I think of you, there's this one song. You were just too beautiful for this world. I am blessed for having had your company and conversation. See you in His garden some day. My thoughts and prayers to your Family and Patrick.

Cathy made a lasting impression on many friends anc coworkers at CUNA Card Services, she made our jobs more enjoyable and her laugh was always welcome. To her mother and family and to Patrick, please accept our condolences, we know that Cathy was as bright a light in your lives just recently as she was in ours years ago.
