Obituary

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA-Allan G. Skinner, age 76, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 in Anchorage, Alaska. Allan grew up in Oregon and graduated from Oregon High School in 1954. Following high school, he attended UW-Stevens Point and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in conservation in 1959. Allan’s career in federal service began as a park ranger for the National Park Service. He worked in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, Yellowstone National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation area in Nevada, and Death Valley in California. Allan also worked as a USACE Park Ranger in California and Indiana. In 1974, Allan moved to the Alaska district, where he worked as a regulatory specialist until his death. In February 2012, Allan was presented with a certificate in recognition of 50 years of federal service. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Skinner and niece, Lynn Skinner Trembly, both of Peoria, Ariz.; and close friends in Alaska and throughout the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Russell Skinner; and brother Darrell Skinner. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 East Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, with the Rev. Paul Markquart presiding. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery near his parents.
