Greta Allegra Thornell

MONONA/MADISON-Greta A. Thornell, age 84, of Monona, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on May 5, 1928, in Madison, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Hanson) Burnson. Greta was employed with the State of Wisconsin for 17 years retiring in 1993. She enjoyed shopping thrift stores and flea markets, gardening, the Packers, and discussing politics. Family was very important to Greta especially being with her grandchildren. Greta is survived by her children, Cindy (Mike) Byrne of Monona, Jon (Linda) Thornell of Cottage Grove, Richard Thornell of Madison, and Randall Thornell of Madison; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Harley Burnson of Madison; and brother-in-law, Bill Paltz. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lorraine Paltz and Elaine (Eugene) Kaltenberg.
