I was blest to know Joan through her sister, Gert, my best friend. My favorite memory of Joan was on a sunny Saturday when Gert and I ran into her on Wilson Street. Joan ecstatically announced that she was pregnant (with Tricia) -- that Don had many dogs and it was her turn to have this wonderful blessing!
