Obituary

ou just don't see people staying in their job for a decade anymore, let alone four of them! Albert 'Fred' Loy worked as a printing pressman and platemaker for 41 years with the same company, Rock-Tenn Packaging (formerly Forsberg/Eastex). Being a night owl served him well, as he worked 3rd shift for most of those years. He was lovingly referred to as 'Freddy Bear' by his co-workers and friends there, retiring in September of 1996. Born August 14, 1934 in Moline, IL Fred grew up on a little farmette in Oregon, WI with puppies, kittens, goats and chicks. Once out on his own, living in Madison, he met and married Jahnine Anne (Harmer) Loy December 13, 1963. They chose to relocate to Lodi, WI to raise their three girls, Terri, Tami and Tina. Fred liked to listen to music. Boxcar Willie, Johnny Cash and Elvis were just a few of his favorite artists. But professionals aside, he loved to listen to Jahnine play the Lowrey Spinet organ they had. She would pound out a few folks songs along with waltzes and polkas on a lazy Sunday afternoon. In the recent years, you would find Fred listening to a different tune on a Sunday afternoon...the roar of the auto races on tv. Where the rubber meets the road, like a 'Rebel without a Cause' Fred was a motorcycle enthusiast getting his first bike in 1956. From an Indian to a Gold Wing and eventually a Helix in his later days, he loved to ride. With the CC Riders, back in the day, he and his friends ruled the roads. He was also a member of the Lodi Yellow Thunder Snowmobile Club in the 70's and enjoyed riding around the Lodi, Poynette and Arlington snow filled trails. After a long and mighty struggle with congestive heart failure, Albert Frederick Loy, age 77 slipped away in his sleep at his home in Prairie du Sac on August 2nd, 2012. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 6th, 2012 from 4-6 pm at the Hamre Funeral Home in Lodi, WI. with a short service immediately following. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jahnine Anne Harmer Loy, daughters: Terri Loy (David) White, Tami (Mike Miller) Loy and Tina (Paul) Miller, Grandchildren: Chelsea White, Brigham White, Adria White, Jenna (Justin) Miller Higgins, Stacy (Tom) Miller Brereton, and Justin Miller, Great-grandchildren: Jalen and Jocelyn Higgins, Emmy and Abbey Brereton, Sister Nancy (Fred) Scheidegger, and nephews David (Carrie) Scheidegger and Mike (Nancy) Scheidegger. We can't forget his precious little pup, an American Eskimo named Snuffy will be missing him terribly. Preceding him in death were both his parents Albert Gustaf Thomas Loy and Mabel Esther Clara Martens Loy as well as baby sister Carol Mae Loy. To The Loy Family, I'm so sorry to hear about Fred. I have wonderful memories of spending LOTS of time at the Loy household growing up where I was always made to feel like part of the family. Fred was always "Tami's dad" to many of us and I remember him as always having a good sense of humor and kidding us about one thing or another. I am wishing you all strength and fond memories.......
