Obituary

MADISON-Raymond L. Marty, age 63, of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at VA Hospice in Madison. He was born on July 22, 1948, in Madison, the son of Robert and Anne Marty. Ray graduated from East High School, worked at Ray-o-vac, and went to Vietnam where he operated tanks and other heavy machinery while earning several medals, badges, and a purple heart. When he returned to the states, he worked at area service stations and repair shops. Ray worked for Messner, Inc. for several years until his retirement. Ray is survived by his mother, Anne of Monona; brothers, Doug of Orlando, Fla., Howard of Monona, and Randy (Lynn) of Chetek; nephews, Robert and William Marty of Madison and Lukas Marty and niece, Dawn Marty both of Chetek; special friend and disciple, Teri Ripp; and her two daughters, Rose and Velda. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert and brother, David. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the VA staff for all of their compassion and thoughtfulness in Ray’s final voyage. Cemetery: Burial will be at a later date. I am so sad and sorry to hear about Ray's passing. He was such a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor. My entire family loved him. I have many, many great and fond memories of Ray.
