MADISON-Kenneth D. Phillips, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He was born on May 28, 1944, in Madison, the son of William and Alyce Elliott. He married Patricia Paulson on June 18, 1966, in Madison. Kenneth worked at Oscar Mayer Foods for more than 40 years, and later at Thorstad as a shuttle driver for four years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, target practice, and tinkering on just about anything. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Renee Demrow and Wendy (Mike) Myers; four grandchildren, Dusty, Jeni, Piper Sue, and Jasper; sisters, Kathy (William) Faris and Sandra (Eldon) Sanders; brothers, Ralph (Jackie) Phillips and Myron (Maria) Phillips; sister-in-law, Barbara Lehr; many nieces and nephews; and extended family, Fred, Dave, Larry, Rick and Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Adeline Franklin; sister, LaDonna Faye (Wallace) Powell; nephew, David Franklin; sisters-in-law, Janice (James) Griffin and Sharon Arnold; and brother-in-law, James Paulson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from Noon until the time of service on Sunday. A special thank you to the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their compassion and genuine care of Ken. Uncle Bobo I have been so fortunate to have you in my life. Everyone that knew and loved you were very lucky to know such a great man. Family always came first with you and we all knew that. I find great comfort in knowing that when you went thru the pearly gates their were loving arms to embrace you. Dad with his fishing pole,mom with her love and most of all your mom and dad. We have lost a great man, but heaven has been blessed with one. You will always be in my heart and I will have great memories to cherish. I think it'll be nice to remember Ken as I always have - with a smile on his face, laughter in his heart, and a fishing pole in his hand. In fact, it is a comfort to know that Ken & Grandpa Elliott are finally catching up and soaking a few lines. I'm guessing the fishing in heaven must be tremendous :)

Dad - You know we loved you and that you will be greatly missed. What you may not know is what an incredible human being we all thought you were. An inexhaustible source of love and compassion for ALL the people around you. Your ever-expanding acceptance of "extended family". You did it all with a dignity for life and love. So sorry for your loss. Just found out today at work. We were on vacation. I remember him when I started at Oscars. He train me how to box. Then when he retired I had his job. :( So sad. I could kick myself for no visiting. Love that guy. R.I.P Kenny love ya!
