Obituary
OREGON/VERONA-Waunetta M. Pollow, age 81, of Oregon, ended her journey on earth and was reunited with the love of her life on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, after a long hard fought battle with cancer. She was born on April 25, 1931, in Oregon, the daughter of Edward and Emily Rowe. She was united in marriage, to the love of her life, Arnold “Arnie” Pollow on March 28, 1951, and they enjoyed 55 blissful years together. Waunetta was employed by General Telephone Company (now Verizon) until her retirement in 1986. After retirement, Waunetta and Arnie spent winters in Texas as snowbirds, enjoying the warmth and no snow. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, helping to assemble church newsletters and helping with the annual smorgasbord. Waunetta’s joys in life were camping with family and friends, playing cards, dancing, and enjoying gambling trips. Waunetta was a very special person and will be forever remembered for her ability to say few words but still get her point across, her caring attitude towards others, and her love for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Waunetta is survived by her daughters, Barbara (John) Carter of Oregon, Susan (David Davenport) Pollow of Fitchburg, Shirley (Dan) Smith of Verona, and Wanda (Randy) Knipfer of Lodi; grandchildren, Todd (Jen) Carter of Monroe, Jodi (Bill) Zieske of Beaver Dam, Syreeta Davenport of Fitchburg, Missy (Marc) Wetterlund of Forest Lake, Minn., Shelly Smith of Verona, Amy (Clyde) Galit of Middleton, and Tony (Katie) Knipfer of Sturgeon Bay, nine great-grandchildren, Matt, Jack, Ryan, Alli, Aiden, Andrew, Sam, Trae, and Becca; siblings, Don Rowe of Belleville, Art (Betty) Rowe of Chino, Calif., Jerry (Arlene) Rowe of Stoughton, Emily (Roger) Krueger of Brooklyn, and Anita Rowe of Oregon; in-laws, Betty (Phil) Zibell of Cambridge; and nieces, nephews and friends. Waunetta was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie in 2006; her parents; siblings, Eileen (Stan) Schneider, William (Lena) Rowe, and George Rowe. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI. 53711. The family would like to thank the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care provided in her final days, in particular Cara and Lindsey, her “home” team, for the wonderful care provided over the past few months. The family would also like to thank Katie and the staff at Willow Pointe Assisted Living for the care provided the past 5 ½ years to our Mother and we know the “caring” relationship meant so much to her. “Mom, you will live in our hearts and minds forever, and we will always love you. Go have fun with Dad. We’re sure dad will like your nails. The pain is gone and rest peacefully. ”
