Obituary

OKEE, WI/DELTONA, FL –Frank Creeron, age 88, passed away on May 20, 2012, at Hospice Care in Orange City, FL. He was born on March 5, 1924, in Worcester, MA, the son of Frank and Helen (Fleming) Creeron. Frank earned a B.A. from UW-Madison in 1949 and worked as a teacher in Menomonie and Cudahy. He was also a member of Wisconsin Social Service and worked as a social worker in Racine, Richland and Dane County and was the director of social work at Dane County Hospital & Home. He served active duty with Reserve 998 Engineer Construction Battalion of Menomonie. Frank was a veteran of World War II and a life member of VFW Post No. 2267. He received Battle Stars in Papua, New Guinea; New Britain, Dutch Indies, Borneo, Leyte, Luzon, Mindanao, Atsugi and Tokyo. Frank was a member of the 5th Air Force, 5279 Airborne Fighter Control. His unit raised the first official U.S. flag in Japan ending World War II combat. Frank was also a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid collector of antique cars, toys and toy trains and was a member of the Cadillac LaSalle Club. He enjoyed travel, attending car shows, train shows, swap meets and flea markets. He attended the Iola Car Show for over 40 years and loved being at his cottage on Lake Wisconsin. Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Coe); sons, Thomas (Nancy Gagnon), John (Reiko), and James (Patricia); daughters, Mary (Robert) Ryden, and Lisa (David Schlimgen); grandchildren, Diana Sarko, Kerry Creeron, Kristin Creeron and Michael Schlimgen; and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard and Daniel; sisters, Helen, Mary Ann and Kathleen; and brother-in-law, Charles Coe. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home the same day from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
