Ambrose J. Klingelhoets

MADISON-Ambrose J. Klingelhoets, age 91, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, of natural causes. He was born on Sept. 13, 1920, in Turtle Lake, the son of Arthur and Theresa Klingelhoets. Ambrose graduated from the UW-Madison, and later received his master’s degree from Harvard University. In 1944, he was united in marriage to Muriel M. Leisz while he was on furlough from the U.S. Army. After serving in World War II as a commissioned captain, Ambrose and Muriel started a family in Brookings, S.D. They later moved to Madison to raise five children and he was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as the Wisconsin State Soil Scientist. Ambrose retired at the age of 59. His life was filled with many interests, including fishing, gardening, traveling, playing cards, dancing, and outdoor activities. He also had a deep commitment to family. Ambrose is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Bill) Schoener of Shell Lake; four sons, Pat (Nancy) of Madison, Robert of Madison, Paul (Joan) of Lakeview, Ark., and Mark (Karyn) of Mount Home, Ark.; two grandsons, John and Michael of Monona; two step-grandchildren, Ben and Julia Johnson of Mount Home, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Leisz Merle; many nieces and nephews; and special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 300 Pine St. South, Turtle Lake, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, with Father Dave Lusson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. A special thank you to the staff at Sylvan Crossings.
