Obituary
LODI-Mary L. Cook, age 89, died on Thursday, March 15, 2012. She was born on July 29, 1922, in Pardeeville, the daughter of J. Dewey and Charlena (Cotter) Edwards. Mary was a World War II Army veteran having served in the Phillipines in General MacArthur’s forces. Mary went to beauty school and worked at Busch’s Beauty Shop where she met her future husband Charles Cook. They were married on May 7, 1949. In 1952, they moved to Lodi and owned and operated the Lodi Beauty Salon until they retired in 2000. Mary was a charter member of Lodi Laurie’s Curling. She was also a member of the Lodi American Legion and the Legion Auxilliary. Mary belonged to First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women’s Organization. She was an avid reader and crafter and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband of more than 62 years, Charles Cook, Mary is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Deane) Haag, Tykie (Don) Wescott and Barbara Cook (Bob Johnson); 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister Viola (Greg) Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lori, her sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 258 Lodi Street, Lodi at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 19, 2012, with the Reverend Gretchen Lord Anderson and the Reverend Dan Pulsfus presiding. Interment with military rites accorded will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Lodi Public Library or to the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library, 813 W. Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233-1436.
