Leonard F. Ziegler

CROSS PLAINS- Leonard F. Ziegler, age 82, of Cross Plains, went home to the Lord on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Dec. 3, 1929, in Ashton, the son of Frank X. and Adeline (Ripp) Ziegler. Leonard married the love of his life, Elaine Statz on May 1, 1952, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Dane. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Plains and was a part of the group that helped rebuild the church after its fire in the early 1970s. Leonard had a great passion for farming and worked as a farmer his entire life. He was a former grand knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 3924 and also was a delegate for the Wisconsin Dairies Co-op. The most important things to Leonard were his faith, family and farming. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine; children, Joan (Douglas) Pahl, Jerald (Dorothy) Ziegler, Lenny (Brenda) Ziegler, Jacqueline (Edward) Kinney, Judy (Rodney) Faust and Joyce (Robert) Feller; 18 grandchildren, Adriane (Craig) McIlwain, Eva (Dan) Allen, Douglas (Kate) Pahl, Erin (Bill) Eslinger, Dustin Ziegler, Dylan (Stephanie) Ziegler, Dain Ziegler, Lee Ziegler, Rachel (Carlos) Jimenez, Michael Ziegler, Kristen (fiancé Peter) Ziegler, Marina Kinney, Delanie Kinney, Kait (Dan) Timler, Anna Faust, Sarah Faust, Evan Feller and William X. Feller; seven great-grandchildren, Emily and Harper McIlwain, August and Maddox Allen, Braylee and Brinkley Eslinger and Joaquin Jimenez; brother, Leo (Carol) Ziegler; sisters, Louise (Rodney) Goeden and Selma (William) Curran; sister-in-law, Hermina Ziegler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Ziegler; parents; brother, Clarence (Betty) Ziegler and Jerome Ziegler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, with Father Tom Kelley presiding. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 and also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made in Leonard’s name to the St. Francis Xavier Endowment Fund. Thank you to the St. Mary’s Renal Services Center, Dr. Ahren and Dr. Haase for all their care.
