Susan Dianne Christenson,

STOUGHTON-Susan D. (Norgaren) Christenson, age 71, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 6, 1940 in Stoughton, the daughter of Peter S. and Mildred M. (Mortenson) Norgaren. Susan graduated from Stoughton High School in 1958 and married David C. Christenson on Jan. 31, 1959. Susan returned to the work force at Stoughton Area School District as an educational assistant for 30 years. After retiring in 1998 she continued to volunteer for the School District, Stoughton Hospital and Christ Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Elizabeth Circle. Susan loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, David; two daughters, Joni (Craig) Wood and Mari Steele; five grandchildren, Lyndsey (Mike) McLaughlin, Jeffrey Wood, Ashley Gullickson, Michael Steele and McKenzie Steele; three great-grandsons, Kyler, Aaron and Shane; sisters, Elizabeth Bortz of Madison and Mary Jo Norgaren of Waunakee; special uncle, Cornelius Norgaren; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Peter A. Norgaren; and nephews, Peter J. Norgaren and Joel Listug. Funeral services will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 5 p.m., on Friday, March 23, 2012, with a meal to follow at the church. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Christ Lutheran Church. Susan’s family would like to express a special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, Dr. Prendergast, Dr. Joyce Brehm, Pastors Scott and Paula Geister-Jones. Cemetery: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Christ Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday.
