Vicky Mahr

SUN PRAIRIE-Vicky Mahr, age 54, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Oct. 22, 1957 in Flint, Mich., the daughter of Richard and Peggy (Sullivan) Simpson. She married Ken Mahr on Feb. 19, 1994. She graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Grand Blanc Michigan. Vicky attended CS Mott Community College, receiving an Associates Degree in General Secretarial Studies. After graduation she worked at General Motors for 10 years in the Human Resources department. Vicky then moved to Florida to manage a restaurant. After a few years she felt the need to return to Michigan and was hired at Post Cereals in Battle Creek Michigan in their Human Resources department. Vicky and Ken met at Post Cereals and were married two years later. In 1997 Ken accepted a job at Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer here in Madison. Vicky also accepted a position in the Oscar Mayer Human Resources department and they moved to Madison in June of that year. Vicky has been at Oscar Mayer ever since accepting positions to the Research & Development group and then in her current position as Procurement Coordinator in the Procurement group. It’s been said that when Vicky was at work she was a breath of fresh air for anyone who would stop by her desk and talk with her. Vicky welcomed everyone into her life and did her best to improve the lives of the people around her. All her friends loved to hear stories about the latest adventures at their ‘farmette’, there was always something new happening to make people laugh. Vicky loved taking care of her 18 chickens, 3 goats and 2 horses. She always said she works for feed and loved to scoop pooh after work. Her other great passion was the children’s ministry’s at Door Creek Church. Vicky volunteered there for twelve years where she knew each and every child and volunteer that walked through the doors, encouraging them all to do their best and making lasting friendships because of her serving spirit. Vicky is survived by her husband, Ken; two step-sons, Matt Mahr and Chris Mahr; daughter, Hannah; brother, Rick (Diane) Simpson; sister, Kim Simpson; mother, Peggy Simpson; and nephews, Ryan and Landen Simpson. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard. Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, with the Reverend Cal Steiner presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012, and also 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
