Obituary

BROOKLYN-Leland Frautschy, age 80, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. He was born on Aug. 11, 1931, in Monroe, the son of Roy and Frieda (Hofer) Frautschy. He married Gladys Grunnet on Oct. 27, 1945, at Brooklyn Lutheran Church. Leland was born and raised a farmer. He worked for Renk Seed as a salesman for more than 25 years. Leland was a member of Brooklyn Lutheran church. He was known as a notorious joke teller. Leland enjoyed eating cookies, playing cards, and reading cowboy books. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; sons, Russell (LuAnn) Frautschy and Roger Frautschy; daughter, Ann (Jeff) Frautschy Smith; grandchildren, Lindsay Barma, Shawn Irwin, Stephanie Nutt, Lexy Frautschy, Chase Irwin, Nicholas Frautschy, and Kaley Rose Frautschy; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine Barma, Jade Barma, and Logan Irwin. He is further survived by step-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at BROOKLYN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 101 Second Street, Brooklyn, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, with the Rev. Rebecca Ninke presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Cemetery: Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
