Obituary

MADISON- James A. Offerdahl Sr., age 77 of Madison, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1934, in Stoughton, the son of Jergen and Fern (Hanson) Offerdahl. He spent many years doing mechanical work as well as roofing alongside his brother, Jr. James was a devoted Packer fan and loved stockcar racing, especially watching his son-in-law. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and playing many hours of cribbage. James is survived by his children, James Jr. (Diane) Offerdahl, Kenneth Offerdahl, Jacqulyn Morton and Debra (Ricky) Nelson; grandchildren, Katherine (Bill) Roisum, Kevin Morton, Luke Morton, Robert (Autumn) Nelson, Richard (Angela) Nelson, Gregory (“Putter”) Nelson, Jimbo (Gassen) Offerdahl, Carl Offerdahl, Marcus Offerdahl and Jennifer Deminter; and great-grandchildren, his namesake, Billy James (BJ), Kassidy (Beka) Roisum, Tiffany, Kaley and Bobby Nelson, Braxton Morton, Joseph Morton, Gabriella and Kaytlin Nelson, one on the way; and many more great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Emily Legler and Patsy (Don) Klevens. James was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Rosina; son, Lance Offerdahl; and parent; as well as his dog and best friend of 14 years, Lighting. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012. Private burial will be held at a later date.
