Obituary

MADISON-Hendrik “Henry” Weits, age 72, of Madison, went to be with his faithful lord and savior on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 22, 1939, in Putten, Province Elderland, The Netherlands, the son of Frans and Tonia (Sybenga) Weits. At the age of 16, Henry immigrated from The Netherlands with his family and settled in Sheboygan. He started working at H.C. Prange Company within seven months of being in the U.S. Henry joined the U.S. Army and earned his high school GED, while serving in the military. He married Joan VerVelde on Aug. 15, 1964. Henry continued working for H.C. Prange Company and transferred to Madison in 1977. In 1988, he began a second career in the moving industry as a certified moving consultant until his retirement. Henry was a member of the Madison Cribbage Club, and enjoyed playing and teaching cribbage to anyone who was willing to learn. He was a member of Crossroads Church, where he attended Bible studies and various church activities. In addition to singing in his church choirs, Henry was a charter member of Men of Harmony. He was also a member of Sheboygan Stamp Club. Henry enjoyed camping with his family and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan; son, Randy (Jessica) Weits of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter, Brenda Weits of Madison; grandchild, Lucy; brothers, Fred (Armeliza) of Hesperus, Colo., Frans (Janice) of Oceanside, Calif., the Rev. Herman (Rosnia) of Franklin, N.C., Dr. Edo Weits of Lawton, Mich., and Antony (Shirley) of Grand Rapids, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother. Funeral services will be held at CROSSROADS CHURCH, 3815 Dutch Mill Road, Madison, at noon on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, with the Rev. Doug VanEssen presiding. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday . Memorials may be made to Crossroads Church.
