Obituary

MADISON-Frank Orren Gray, age 77, of Madison, passed away at his home on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with a blood illness. The son of Frank R. and Ethel (Webb) Gray, he was born in Madison on June 25, 1934. Frank graduated from East High School in 1952. He married Aileen Jensen on Sept. 29, 1956. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1952, and remained active with the reserve unit for eight years. Frank was employed by Vogel Bros. Building Company from 1961 until he retired as a carpenter superintendent in 1996. Frank loved the game of golf, both playing and watching tournaments. He was a member of the MARGA Association for several years, golfing twice weekly at two 9 hole courses. Frank also golfed weekly with friends while wintering in Florida. It was in Florida where he achieved his first “hole in one.” Frank was also a member of the Madison Elks Lodge 410, and the East Side Club. Frank’s first love was for his family, whom he adored, and for his many friends. He was a caring, generous person, always ready to help someone in any way he could, he could fix almost anything. In addition to Aileen, his wife, of 55 plus years, Frank is also survived by three daughters, Lynn R. Gray, Dianne M. Graham, and Elizabeth A. Gray; son-in-law, Stuart Graham; grandson, Colin Graham; sister, Barbara O’Malley; and brother-in-law, Ben Benedetti. He is further survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Pat Jensen; sister-in-law, Beverly Olson; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Kundert, Margaret Bennett, Lorraine LePore and Helen Benedetti; brothers, Louis Brickson and Rodney “Sonny” Gray; brothers-in-law, Franklin Kundert, Matthew LePore, James Bennett and John O’Malley; and sister-in-law, Audrey Gray. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, with the Rev. Keith Schroerlucke presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plan U.S.A., 155 Plan Way, Warwick, R.I. 02886 or the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Musa for his compassionate care, Taryn of Dean Hematology, the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Agrace HospiceCare. We also thank our many friends for all of their prayers and concerns. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plan U.S.A., 155 Plan Way, Warwick, R.I. 02886 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
