Obituary
LODI-Carol A. Young, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac. She was born on August 10, 1929, in Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of Peter and Jennie Haugen. Carol worked for Research Products in Madison for 17 years and also for GTE for many years. She also worked at the Downtown Café in Lodi where she was famous for her lemon meringue pies. Her children were her most treasured possessions and she had great pride in them all. Carol is survived by her nine children, Helen Ballweg, Phyllis (Joe) Ballweg, Russell Hansen, David (Beth) Hansen, Carrie Hansen-Williams (Tim), Janet (Frank) Kasowicz, Peggy (Pete) Meegan, Melanie Hansen, and Steve Hansen (Debbie); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry Young and a daughter, Jennifer Marinko. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baraboo Hospice or to the American Lung Association. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staffs of The Pines Assisted Living and Baraboo Hospice and also to everyone who has shown kindness to Carol over the years.
