Doris Jean Herschleb

De Forest - Doris J. Herschleb, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012. She was born on June 23, 1932 in Madison, the daughter of the late Melvin and Bonnie (Lautsch) Knutson. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leeds, WI and worked with Arlington Hardware as a bookkeeper for a number of years. Doris had a variety of interests including knitting, reading, traveling in the “Honey” RV, entertaining friends and family, and watching birds and other wildlife in her backyard. She was an avid gardener, an excellent seamstress and a fantastic cook who passed her talents on to her daughters, and when needed, helped her husband Richard on the farm by driving tractor. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Doris loved most of all caring for and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Vicki (Al) Prochnow, Ken (Patti), Kay (Dick) Irwin, and Rick (Mary); eleven grandchildren, Lee, Kersten, Russell, Michael, Gail, Stefanie, Amanda, Rachael, Rebecca, Rosemary, and Reuben; nine great-grand children; and her sister Marion Markhardt. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2009. Honoring Doris’s wishes, private family services will be held.
