Obituary
EVANSVILLE/ MUSCODA- Richard A. Tanner, age 62, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. In lieu of his many plans for retirement, Richard will be waiting for us in his heavenly home. He was born Sept. 9, 1949 to William and Maxine (Anderson) Tanner in Richland Center. Richard married Darleen Palfrey on Sept. 19, 1986, in Janesville. He was an OTR truck driver for the past 27 years. Richard enjoyed riding his Harley with Darleen to many places. He enjoyed family, fishing, hunting and his dogs. Richard will be fondly remembered for his wit, sense of humor, positive attitude and staying connected with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Darleen; brother, Terry (Sharon) Tanner; two sisters, Cindy Knoble and Sandy Bailey; mother-in-law, Dolly Palfrey; brothers-in-law, Jim (BJ), John (Becky), Joe (Jackie), Jerry (Lori) and Jay Palfrey; sisters-in-law, Delva Palfrey, Daphne Stanek and Doreen (JD) Doyle; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Tanner; father-in-law, Fred Palfrey; brothers-in-law, Robert (Colleen) Tanner, Jeff and Jed Palfrey. A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, George and Sharon Franklin and to family and friends for their support, kindness, visits and care of Richard during his illness. Thanks also to Gunderson Funeral Home for their service. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.

Darlene and family. We will miss Dick, he was very supportive of family. My dad enjoyed his phone calls when he was trucking. He also encourage me to complete the Tanner Family history...I still have research to do. I will miss our phone calls and talks about past... Enjoyed his family get togathers the pass few years. I am glad to hear how much his sisters helped him to be able to stay at home.
