Robert Droster

MONONA/DEFOREST - Robert D. Droster, age 82, of Monona, passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 15, 1929, the son of Ezra and Bernice (Krugman) Droster. Robert married Mary Lou Baier on Oct. 24, 1953, in Elmwood. He was a graduate of Eastside High School, class of 1948. Robert also attended UW-Wisconsin and Dunwoody Institute. He was employed by Marling Lumber Company for 27 years and was also employed by Berntsen International as plant manager of Production Design for 15 years, retiring in 1994. Robert was a member of the Model A Restorers Club, Kiwanis, and lifetime member of Mid Continent Railroad Museum. He enjoyed volunteering for meals on wheels, being active with the Boy Scouts and various other organizations. Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Karen Beard of El Cajon, Calif. and Jeanne (Jack) Barham of DeForest; son, Bruce (Lauri) Droster of Dane; grandchildren, Jessica (Joshua) Zaring, Ian (Diana) Beard and Jalaine Beard, and great-grandchildren, Jaden, Jenna and Jordyn Zaring. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jalaine Droster; great-aunt and uncle, Franz and Bertha Becker; and son-in-law, Neal Beard. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at noon on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
