Jo acquired some "naturalist" tendencies from her father and passed those on to her children. We must have visited every state park in Wisconsin (imagine 9 kids in a station wagon) and also traveled most of the states east of the Rockies. We often were hosts to those visiting the US and Jo enjoyed helping foreign spouses of UW students get oriented. I remember trying to speak with Japanese children in pre-school. The spirit of Jo lives on through 15 grand children and 5 great grand children.
