Obituary

WAUSAU/MONONA-Edith M. Tipple, age 94, of Applegate Terrace, Wausau, died on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, after a brief illness. Edith was born on Oct. 23, 1917, in Viroqua. She graduated from Viroqua High School, County Normal Teachers College, Madison Business College, and the University of Wisconsin. Edith was a resident of the Madison area for most of her adult life where she raised their four children. She was a member of Lake Edge United Church of Christ, and the Friendship Force. Survivors include two children, Susanne (Brian) Clark of Paoli, Pa., and James (Pixie) Tipple of Wausau; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Dyer of Monona; and several nieces and nephews. Edith’s husband, Edwin; son, Thomas; and daughter, Karen preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at LAKE EDGE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 4200 Buckeye Road, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, with the Rev. Lex Libertore presiding. Visitation will be at the church from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Friendship Force of Wisconsin Scholarship Fund of Lake Edge United Church of Christ. The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Hospitals, Wausau Manor, and Applegate Terrace. Cemetery: Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
