Obituary

MADISON- Marilyn Grzenia, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on April 3, 1944, in Madison, the daughter of William and Gladys (Kitchen) McGrath. After the loss of her parents at age 13, Marilyn moved to Muscoda to live with her sister, Virginia. She moved back to Madison to attend West High School her junior and senior year. Shortly after graduating she married her high school sweetheart, Edward Grzenia on June 25, 1962. Together they raised four children. Marilyn enjoyed bowling, fishing, viewing nature, reading and crocheting. They enjoyed traveling to various places throughout their life. They also enjoyed spending their time gambling at Ho Chunk Casino together. Marilyn especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 49 ½ years, Ed; children, Dennis (Jackie) Grzenia, Kathy (Dave) Pierce and Mike (Lori) Grzenia; grandchildren, Alexis (Marlin) Winden, Danielle (Tyler) Strzyzewski, Brandon Steinberg, Nick and Rachel Grzenia, Mitchell Pierce, Brooke Grzenia, Mary Pierce, Matthew Pierce and Autumn Grzenia; and great-grandchildren, Mason Winden, Owen Strzyzewski. Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheryl in 1998; sisters, Virginia Kalscheur and Delores Harris. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711. A special thank you to the staff at Agrace Hospice and Dr. Traynor and her staff at U.W. Health for their care. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day; to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah, yes, those things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me God wanted me now, He set me free. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
