Kenneth Parsons

OREGON- Kenneth Parsons, age 85, of Oregon, passed away on Nov. 4, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1926, in Cadiz Township, Green County, the son of Louis and Esther (Drye) Parsons. Kenneth married Joan Spencer on Sept. 21, 1945. He graduated from Evansville High School. Kenneth worked on the family farm until he retired. He was a Promise Keeper and early leader of the NFO. Kenneth enjoyed traveling, including two trips to Israel and his most recent trip out west six weeks ago. Family was always important to Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; children, Gary (Patricia) Parsons, Bonnie (David) LaCourt, Beverly (David) Hellenbrand, John (Karen) Parsons and Roger (Pam) Parsons; grandchildren, Mark (Barb) Parsons, Kerry (Chad) McEvoy, Suzanne (Daniel) Zamora, Carolyn LaCourt, Steven (Gwen) LaCourt, Julie (Rob) Brinks, Tim (Kris) Hellenbrand, Jeff (Emily) Hellenbrand, Kristi (Dan) Coy, Wendy (Brent Warner) Parsons, Tony Parsons and Stacey (Rob) Miller; and 20 great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beth Koeneman; and twin brothers at birth. Funeral services will be held at HILLCREST BIBLE CHURCH, 752 E. Netherwood Rd., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, with the Rev. Eric VanderPloeg. Burial will be at Saucerman Cemetery in Green County. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oregon Senior Center and Hillcrest Bible Church. Cemetery: Burial will be at Saucerman Cemetery in Green County.
