Obituary

NAPERVILLE, ILL.-Richard “Dick” Ciulla, age 87, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. He was born on April 3, 1924, the son of Peter and Anna (Cimino) Ciulla. Born and raised here in the Bush, Dick graduated from Madison Central High School, and attended UW-Madison, majoring in business. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Dick was a CEO at several insurance companies throughout the United States for many years. He was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle and great-uncle. Growing up he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dick is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Hockett; nieces and nephews, Peter, Maria, Dick, Victor, Angela, Benji, Carrie, Nagayo, Nancy, Anna, Kathy, Theresa, and Ben; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Sam Onheiber and John Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Isabel; brother, Ben; and great-nephew, Christopher Gibson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Highway, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park where military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the family. Special thanks to Nephew Nagayo for his wonderful care of Dick.
