Mary L. Sowatzke

MADISON- Mary Sowatzke, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at Skaalen Nursing Home. She was born on Nov. 11, 1942, in Madison, the daughter of Wilbert and Irene (Pirkl) Ellestad. Mary graduated from Central High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving her bachelor’s degree. She married the love of her life, Elmer “Neal” Sowatzke on Oct. 19, 1974, at Hope Lutheran Church. Mary will be remembered by all who loved her. She is survived by her many family members and friends, whom she treasured. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neal in 2007; and her canine companions. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. Burial of cremated remains will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Mary’s name to Camp Wawbeek, 1450 Highway 13, Wisconsin Dells, WI, 53965. Cemetery: Burial of cremated remains will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
