FITCHBURG/CHICAGO- Michael DeFibo, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at the heavenly surroundings of HospiceCare, Inc with his two daughters by his side. Mike was born to a close-knit Italian family and grew up in Chicago. He was a proud veteran of World War II. He was a hard worker and loved his 40 year career with Sears. Mike’s favorite pastime was fishing and he enjoyed being a “chef” later in life. Mike’s #1 priority though was taking great care of his family. He was a devoted husband for 55 years to Ethel and a loving caretaker to her later in life. He was a fun, encouraging, supportive and very loveable Dad to Karen and Andrea. He was always there for us when we needed him. Grandpa Mike was very proud of his smart and talented grandkids, Lauren (21) and Michael (17), Andrea’s children with Mike’s wonderful son-in-law, John O’Connell. We will miss him dearly but we will always be blessed with the warmest of family memories. We will always be surrounded by the positive spirt of his love. Thank you to HospiceCare, Inc for their expert care, kindness and the respect the staff showed our dad and his family during his last days.
