Obituary
OREGON- Marie Grace Churchill, of Oregon, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 19, 2011, at the age of 97. She was born on September 3, 1914, in Platteville, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Rewey) Hansen. Marie married Richard (Dick) Churchill in Platteville on Aug. 1, 1939. She graduated from Platteville State Teachers College in 1937 and taught two years in Sheboygen schools. She and Dick lived in Silver City, Iowa, and Belmont before returning to Platteville and starting a family. Marie and her family moved to Oregon in 1948. In the early sixties she started working at Oregon Junior High School in the kitchen making bread. Marie enjoyed her work but especially enjoyed visiting with the students. She also enjoyed going to Wyalusing State Park every spring to cook for the sixth grade students and catering with Eleanor Wick. Marie is survived by her four children, Robert (Linda) of Spring Green, John (Barb) of Arkdale, Mary (Terry) Alt of Madison and Carol Georgeson of Fitchburg; her 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Elizabeth and Rewey; and her husband, Dick. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, with Chaplain Bob Groth presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. The family would like to thank the staff of Sienna Crest for their loving care and compassion for the past ten years and the hospice team for their service and support.
Cemetery:
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, with Chaplain Bob Groth presiding.
