Ann Wahl

CROSS PLAINS-Ann J. Wahl, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born on November 20, 1912 in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Peter and Gesina (Schwenker) Haack. She was united in marriage to John T. Wahl on September 3, 1935 in Cross Plains. Ann was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, its Christian Mothers, the Middleton Garden Club and volunteered countless hours as a funeral luncheon cook and helper for the second grade class at St. Francis School. Ann also volunteered at Oakwood Lutheran Homes. She enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for making many wedding cakes. Ann is survived by her daughter, Theresa Lou (Gerard) Miller of Merrimac; two grandsons, Glenn (Mary) Miller of Nisswa, MN.; Michael Miller (friend, LuAnn Shelback) of Cross Plains; two great-grandchildren, Jesse (Candra) Lieser of Brooten, MN; Angie Lieser, Pequot Lake, MN.; two great-great-grandchildren, Kiley and Khloe Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Pauline (Frank) Haack, Kate (Jerome) Haack and many nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John in 1987, and siblings, Marie (Joe) Batz, Elsie Haack (infancy), Herman Haack, Leonard (Annabella) Haack, Jerome Haack, Edward Haack and Frank Haack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2011 with Father Thomas Kelley, Monsignor Gerard Healy and Father John Meinholz co-celebrating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Francis Endowment Fund or the Cross Plains EMS. The family would like to express a special thank you to Father Jared Hood, Stals’, Maplewood Nursing Home and Dan and Charlene Meier.
