Mr. Michael L. Zander

Cross Plains--Michael L. Zander, age 74, of Cross Plains passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at his home. He was born on Nov. 15, 1936 in Madison the son of Henry and Frances (Niesen) Zander. Michael graduated from Middleton High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1955 until Nov. 1957. Michael worked at Thermogas in Madison from 1957 until 1961. He married Alice M. Adler on July 5, 1958 in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Martinsville. Michael took over the family dairy farm in 1961, enjoying the family lifestyle he loved so much. Michael is survived by his wife, Alice; children: Sheldon (Barb) of Darlington, Jean (Steve) Fralka of Cross Plains, Donna (Dave) Abts of Green Bay, and Ryan (Brandi) of Madison; 9 grandchildren: Sherrie, Julia, Erik and Tomas Zander; Lauren, Claire and Anna Fralka; and Allison and Dylan Abts; brothers; Clarence (Vera) Zander, Dale (Jane) Zander, Walter (Linda) Zander; a sister, Eileen Karre; sisters-in-law: Mary Zander, Mary Jane (Dick) Dahmen, Dolores (Bernie) Zimmer; Laura (Roger) Hollfelder; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Anna Adler; a daughter, Vicki Lynn; brothers, Robert and Mel, a sister, Elizabeth; brother-in-law, Richard Karre; and a sister-in-law, Rita Fredenberg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will be in St. Frances Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and on Wed. from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
