Paul Acker

MIDDLETON/MADISON-Paul P. Acker, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1922, in Waunakee, the son of Henry and Veronica (Hellenbrand) Acker. He was united in marriage to Lucille Klein on September 12, 1945 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waunakee. Paul worked with Orchids for over 60 years, starting with Dr. Schubert’s on Lake Mendota and continued with Orchids by the Acker’s until his retirement in 2009. He was recognized in 2000 by over Fifty Employment Services and the Wisconsin State Journal for his valuable contributions to his employer and his community. Paul is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Lucille; their children, Virginia (Deanna) Acker of Austin, TX., Carol Mae (Floyd) Timm of Milwaukee, David (Jane) Acker of Middleton, Jane (William) Hamner of Sun Lakes, AZ., and Mark (Jodi) Acker of DeForest; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2011, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Private burial will be held. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Paul’s name to University of Wisconsin Hospital or to St. Mary’s Care Center.
