Obituary

MIDDLETON-Harold Roed, age 95, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his home. He was born on December 5, 1915, in Chicago, IL., the son of Olaf and Valgjerd Roed. He spent his early years in Chicago and later came to Hollandale, WI and graduated from Hollandale High School. After graduation, he was drafted in the United States Army where he served five years on foreign soil. Harold was united in marriage to Faye Azzalino on September 14, 1946 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hollandale. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Upon returning from service he attended the University of Wisconsin for three years and then took a position with the Dept. of Public Instruction, with whom he was with for 21 years. He then left for a position with the University of Wisconsin and retired in 1981. Harold not only worked full time on his regular job, but he also built four houses. After retirement he built, by himself, a house on Lake Mendota for he and his wife Faye. In his free time he also included wood working and made deer that represented the different football teams, he was known as the “Deer Man.” Harold is survived by his loving wife Faye; a son, Dennis (Kathy) and a daughter, Jody; three grandchildren, Jamie (Rachel), Justin (Nicole) and Meghan; three great-grandchildren, Andreas, Lauryn and Ruby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2011, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Saint Judes Hospice and heartfelt thanks to Diane and Sandy for their kindness. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2011, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding.
