Obituary
MADISON-Jon J. Erickson, age 55, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 10, 1956, in Elroy, the son of Marvin and Dorothy (Ott) Erickson. Jon graduated from Madison La Follette High School in 1974; during his high school years, he was manager of the football team and volunteered as an usher at Lake Edge Lutheran Church. Jon then attended M.A.T.C., where he studied photography, and he later had his own photography business. He also worked for several years for Madison Newspapers . Jon was a lifetime Packers and Badgers football fan, and avid UW hockey fan, and did photography for the UW pom-pom squad. He also volunteered for Big Brothers, having had a “Big Brother” himself. Jon is survived by his mother, Dorothy Sutherland of McFarland; sister, Debra (Harlan) Hettrick of McFarland; and niece, Christine Hettrick of Madison. All the extended family members surviving Jon are too numerous to mention, but special to him were cousins, Sandy Schenkat, Randy Schenkat, Sue (Winston) Beahm; and step-brother, Jack (Andrea) Sutherland. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Erickson; and step-father, A.J. “Jack” Sutherland. A memorial gathering will be held at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. Dear Dorothy and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Jon. He was a friend of mine from LaFollette High School. I graduated with him in 1974. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
