Francesco Candela

MADISON-Francesco Candela, age 103, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on Sept. 27, 1908, in Montelepre, Sicily, the son of Pietro and Giacoma Candela. Francesco was very proud of his catholic heritage, and enjoyed going to church. He also enjoyed working in his garden, and was very proud of his Sicilian heritage. Francesco is survived by his daughter, Giacoma (Leonardo) Damico; grandson, Cesare (Jill) Pontidoro; granddaughter, Rosaria (Randy) Pauls; great-granddaughters, Alexis Pontidoro and Brandy Pauls; and great-grandson, Nicolo Pontidoro. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Felicita. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
