So you see, I’ll never be really gone, As long as there are children to carry on. I have had my share of love, sorrow and strife. I have lived a full and fruitful life, So do not mourn and do not weep, For I have earned this peaceful sleep. - Author unknown. I am so saddened to learn of Doris's passing and wish all of you my deepest sympathy. I enjoyed a long friendship with Doris that developed after we met at PI. I am sure she and Joe Kuehn are telling stories right now!
We had a number of jokes we liked to perpetuate, including her calling herself "the old Ham" after I called her one day and somehow said, "Doris! I was baking a ham and thought of you".
We continued our friendship after her retirement and I was happy she enjoyed my yearly holiday caramel corn and caramels. I will think of her warmly again this year and going forward as I make my holiday treats. She was a special lady.
Tammy, I am so happy for you in your new career, and your mom told me lovingly how proud she was of you too.
Warm thoughts,
Vickie Wenzel-Schlick
