Obituary

OREGON/VERONA-On August 25, 2011, Myra A. Culp, 92, went home to the arms of our Father in Heaven. Myra was born on November 26, 1918, she was the second daughter of “Gust” and “Nellie” Myra. They named her “Myra Myra”, as her father wanted the family name passed on. She attended West High School and then Milwaukee Beauty School. In 1939, Myra married Earl Culp. In 1948, she quit working at the beauty shop as they had a new addition to their family “Carole”, a beautiful 5 year old girl who they had loving adopted. They knew Carole was extra special as her birthday fell on the same day as Earl and Myra’s wedding anniversary. As well as raising Carole, they were foster parents to many children, and were involved with many children’s lives through 4H and scouts. Myra and Earl worked together in all the family businesses. Besides farming, they operated an appraisal and auction business. Together they loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and travel. (Jeff would catch that big one for you). She loved her garden and could make anything grow and she made the BEST chocolate cake with whipped frosting. But her “greatest” love was for her entire family and many friends. Myra’s goal was to be 100. She didn’t quite make it, but it doesn’t matter, because she lived life to the fullest. In her “80's” she went inner tubing down the Sugar River and also floated high above the countryside in a hot air balloon and even rode an elephant. Myra was preceded in death by her daughter, Carole Culp Lowe in 1985; her husband, Earl in 1988; and her sister, Beatrice Blaney. Myra leaves behind her little sister June and her husband, Sam Starr (she called him Bud, as he was her best buddy); sister-in-law, Sally Culp; two grandsons, Craig and Brian Lowe; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. As per Myra’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Just every once in a while when you want, stop and remember the good things about her and smile. “Our loss is Heaven’s gain.” Any memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to HospiceCare. “Aunt My My - Oh the things that you taught us all. The times we laughed and times we cried together and even argued, you were a little lady who loved so BIG. I know that you are in heaven having that dance with uncle, baking with Carole, tending the Lord’s gardens and probably crocheting angels wings. I promise Christmas will ALWAYS have your Christmas pie. Thanks for loving us the way you did. – Sandra Lee” “P.S. Thanks for giving me that last smile. It will be in my heart forever. – John” A special thank you to Willow Pointe Assisted Living in Verona (she loved you all), and to Hospice for your incredible kindness and care. As per Myra’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Just every once in a while when you want, stop and remember the good things about her and smile.
