Statz, Gerald D. Gerald D.Statz (Bubby) age 66 passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at UW Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1945 in Madison, the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Esser) Statz. Jerry married Sandra Pertzborn on October 9, 1965. In 1960 he starting working for his father and uncle at Statz & Harrop Inc. Over time he became owner and operator until his retirement in 2000. Jerry was a Charter Member of Cross Plains Valley Archers, member of the Sons of the American Legion, Cross Plains Businessman's Assoc., Lion's Club and CP Riders Snowmobile Club. Family was always first in his life; he was a very devoted and generous husband, son, father, grandpa, brother and friend. Being an avid outdoorsman, he took many hunting & fishing trips with his friends and family. Jerry was a student and life long member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and a 1963 graduate of Middleton High School. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandee; his 2 sons Jeff (Sarah) Statz, Brad (Kathy Pape) Statz, daughter-in-law Kris Statz; 5 grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Hayden, Brady and Chandler Statz all of Cross Plains; Stepmother Mary Statz; 6 brothers and sisters, Sandy (Eric) Nelson, Mutzy (John) Dahlk, Mike (Luanne) Statz, Linda (Jerry) Roberts, Larry (Marilyn) Statz and Steve Statz; sister-in-law Marilyn Passini; 5 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Rick (Pat) Pertzborn, Dan (Linda) Pertzborn, Mary (Jim) Billmeyer, Diana Pertzborn and Don (Sharon) Pertzborn; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Dorothy Statz, son Craig Statz, brother Richard Statz and mother and father-in-law Don and Lydia Pertzborn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 29, 2011 with Father Tom Kelley presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday August 28, 2011 at the church with a scripture service at 4 p.m. Friends may also call on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Francis Endowment Fund. A special thank you to all the staff at Wisconsin Dialysis for their love and support, especially Lila Jorgensen. Thank you also to the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital who cared for Jerry through his many illnesses. We are also grateful for the love and support of Sister John Rose Acker and Father Tom Kelley who are always there for our family. Grandpa you are the BEST Grandpa ever, we will miss you and please watch over us as we play in the great outdoors the way you taught us.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Francis Endowment Fund.
