Eugene Warren Baxter

Photo Baxter, Eugene “Gene” MADISON-Eugene “Gene” Baxter, age 81, of Madison passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011. He was born on June 4, 1930, in Madison, the son of Stanley and Margaret (Austin) Baxter. Gene was united in marriage to Joan Landsness on June 7, 1952. He worked as a mechanic for many years and retired from Monona Masonry. Gene loved farming and working on anything with an engine. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and his pride and joy, his new red truck. Gene is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Diane (Bryan) Clapper, Shirley (Mark) Carney, Cindy (John ) Kuhn and Gene (Donna) Baxter; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Baxter; and sisters, Bonnie Baxter and Paulette Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doretta Kloss; son-in-law, Ron Zimmerman; and a great-grandson. A memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011. Inurnment will be at Burke Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Waunakee Manor and also to John Kuhn for all the care they gave. Cemetery: Inurnment will be at Burke Lutheran Church Cemetery.
