Obituary

POYNETTE-Scott A. Sachtjen, age 53, passed away as a result of an accident on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011. Scott was born on July 28, 1958, in Viroqua, the son of Richard and Dolores (Adams) Sachtjen. Scott worked tirelessly in both his personal and professional life, and was employed for many years with the Coca Cola Company, Mobil Glass and most recently, Meffert Oil in Waunakee. Scott’s biggest passion was hunting, and the outdoors kept him close to nature. In 2000, Scott purchased a small farmette in Poynette, where he put his heart and soul into the construction of his dream home over the past year. He was an avid motorcyclist with an appreciation for the open road and the beauty of life that surrounded him. Scott experienced some of the best things in life while hunting and riding with his close friends. Scott is survived by his parents; two brothers, Marc and Paul; sister, Lori; nine nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many extended brothers; a special friend, Sarah Behrend; his beloved dog Moose; as well as many others whose lives were touched by him. Words cannot express the void that Scott’s passing will leave for all of those who loved him. His humor, energy, integrity and selfless character filled all of our lives. His memory will live on in all of us and he will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, with the Rev. Patrick Siegler presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Scott lived with me during a hard time in my life. Next to my blood father, Scott showed me some of the greatest habits that i will use for the rest of my life. It seemed like a man that stature could never be taken down. He was a great man. My thoughts go out to all his loved ones.

I haven't seen Scott since our time as coworkers at Coca-Cola in the 80s, but will always remember him. He was a stand-up guy who always did his best and took care of people in his life. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends for his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
