Obituary
PALATKA, FLA.-Nancy (Montgomery) Miller passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, in Claxton, Ga. She was born on Jan. 14, 1941, the daughter of W.P. “Paul” and Lilly (Jensen) Johnston. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1959. Nancy graduated from UW-Madison, and went onto the University of North Florida to earn her master’s degree in English. She taught for over 20 years at Palatka High School in Palatka, Fla. She married Charles “Skip” Montgomery in 1961, and they later divorced. Nancy raised two children by herself, and later married Earl “Buddy” Miller Jr. He preceded her in death in February 2011. Nancy was an avid Badgers, Packers, and Florida Gators fan. She also enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing bridge, gardening, and cooking. She moved to Suwannee, Fla. in 2001. Nancy lived a wonderful life, and had many friends. She opened up her heart to everyone, and will be deeply missed. Nancy is survived by her sons, Scott (Julie) Montgomery of Claxton, Ga. and Todd Montgomery of Houston, Texas; grandson, Austin Montgomery of Claxton, Ga.;brother-in-law, Don Silver of Pardeeville; nieces, Lynn (Jeff) Stanley of Madison and Cyndy (Tim) Andrews of Madison; great-nieces and great-nephews, Lucas Stanley, Paul Stokes, Jessy Stokes, and Kristina Stanley; great-great-niece, Coral Stokes; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Mary Ann “Meme” Silver. Burial services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at noon on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or HospiceCare, Inc.

We wanted to tell you how sorry we were to hear about the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful teacher, friend and mother. It is so hard and we know there is nothing to say, but you are in our prayers. We love you and pray God will comfort you in your time of sorrow.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family...You played on my dad's ball team many years ago (Joe Thornton) and your mom was one of my favorite pwople in high school...I pray that God gives you and your family the comfort that you need...God Bless !!
